MIAP Managing Information Across Partners

Learner Plan Pilot

The Managing Information Across Partners (MIAP) Programme has developed a new product for the education and training sector called the Learner Plan. It will help learners aged 14 plus and those organisations who support them to easily access and share information online.

The Learner Plan has been designed as a high level summary of an individual learning plan. It allows learning providers to record details of assessments carried out by a learner, a learner’s education or training goals and any learning activities in which a learner is already involved. The information in an individual’s Learner Plan could be used to develop a mini curriculum vitae that can be emailed to employers.

The Learner Plan has been developed because there is a critical business need within the education and training sector to share information with different organisations that are involved in the management and delivery of education and training for individuals.

The pilot project started in autumn 2008 and will run until summer 2009, will involve organisations such as work based learning providers, further education colleges, Next Steps, Connexions and Information, Advice and Guidance services, working with some of their learners to test whether the functions in the Learner Plan are fit for purpose. If the pilot is successful, MIAP should release the Learner Plan later in 2009.
