LRS - Prescibed Organisations List

The Education Act 1996 (Section 537A) lists the “prescribed persons” - organisations that are legally authorised to access educational data. Other legislation also applies, such as the Learning and Skills Act 2000 and the Data Protection Act 1998.

It should be noted that any organisations becoming prescribed persons do not gain an automatic right to educational information. Any information shared must be done in accordance with the principles of the Data Protection Act 1998, and be fully justified with respect to the individual.

MIAP will control requests from external organisations for data through the implementation of The MIAP Third Party Data Sharing Protocol. The following is a list of prescribed organisations and a brief description of current data sharing arrangements.
