Northern Ireland supports MIAP Unique Learner Number
The Northern Ireland Assembly has consented to the adoption of the MIAP Unique Learner Number (ULN) by organisations involved in the delivery of education and training in Northern Ireland.
Sir Reg Empey, Minister for Employment and Learning gave his approval in a letter to Mark Haysom, Chief Executive of the Learning and Skills Council, which is delivering the MIAP programme on behalf of its partners. He said: “This will enable organisations in Northern Ireland, engaged in the delivery of the proposed Qualifications and Credit Framework, to procure such services.”
John Denham, Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills, said he was delighted that the Northern Ireland Assembly had agreed to adopt MIAP and added: “This is recognition of MIAP’s growing success as an effective shared service for the education sector across the UK and I am grateful to the LSC for overseeing its delivery.”
MIAP is now being rolled out across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The MIAP team is also in discussions with colleagues from the Scottish Executive about how MIAP services might operate in Scotland.
